Journal Club is a medical tradition, and a means by which medical students learn to evaluate the primary literature on a medical topic. We're going to introduce you to this concept, if you've never been involved in a journal club, by having you evaluate a scholarly medical article in a specified format, and then discuss your conclusions in our discussion forum.
The requirements for this module:
1. Read the paper Evaluation of 8.0cm needle at the fourth anterior axillary line for needle chest decompression of tension pneumothorax by Chang Et Al.
2. Complete the online test, which is a guided assessment of the article
3. Make one forum post stating whether this paper will change your management of patients. If yes, explain how. If no, explain why not.
General things to remember:
Always pay attention to the specific question being asked
Prospective evidence > retrospective evidence
Controlled trials are more definitive than observational studies
